Having Issues With Medicating Your Pet? Try These Tricks!

Having Issues With Medicating Your Pet?

Medication in the form of pill for canines is something that every pet owner may have to face at least once in his lifetime. Though it is obvious that there will be several occasions when you may need to administer tablets to your pooches. You may be spared if your furry buddy is easy going or the pills are palatable, that is flavored. Or else, you may need to use some tactics to administer tablets to your furry friends. Here we have discussed some of the most dependable and experienced tricks to feed pills to dogs. Let’s have a look!

·         Timings matter!
It is very important to decide when you are going to medicate your pet beforehand because some times are just better than the others. There are two things to keep in mind when you choose the pill feeding timings, and those are how hungry is your pooch and what are the distractions around. If your pooch is distracted by the surroundings like he is during a walk, and if he is hungry that would force him gobble anything you toss, then administration of any pill would get simple and way easier. So, make sure your pet’s tummy is not full when toss the pill treat while walking him and the work is done!

·         Cover up deliciously!
Pills have a weird odor and the unflavored ones are usually bitter. This creates an aversion for pets and they would never have the tablet directly, which we all know. You will have to cover the pill with something tasteful that your pet is crazy about. It can be anything, melted cheese, beef, or butter. The only thing to keep in mind is that the treat should overpower the smell of pills. Usually our furry companions drool over peanut butter and it works the most as per the observations. Stuff the pills in peanut butter or any other mouth watering treat that your pet might gobble immediately and get done with administration of pills.

·         Spice it up with games!
Luck may not necessarily stand by you. Once if you had fooled your pooch by feeding him the medication stuffed in peanut butter, it is not necessary that it would work every time. You may need to use different tactics to administer the pills successfully. One of the most trusted and recommended way to do this is to play the treat-catch game. Prepare the pill filled treats in such a way that your pet does not come to know the truth and one of it will have all the pills you need to feed him. Make the tossing fast and don’t give them time to think. Let your furry friend gobble the delicious chunks as soon as the land and this is how the pill filled treat will be wolfed up too!

These are some tricks that usually work with medicating canines. You can also opt for flavored treatments that are available for certain issues. Another option is to cover up the bitter tablets with gelcaps available at pharmacy stores. Use of gelcaps may be needed only if any of your tricks do not work. Try these ideas to keep your furry friends absolutely healthy!

What Does Your Cat Need To Be Happy?

“Time spent with cats is never wasted”
~May Sarton
The words of May Sarton, a renowned author, poet and memoirist are absolutely true. Won’t all the cat lovers agree with her that time spent with cats is indeed never wasted? Cats are too lazy to show their emotions and this may make it difficult for you to decipher whether your purr queen is happy or not. And, the truth is that you may never be able to know it! You just need to do your part and leave the rest to your kitty. So, what are some definite things to do as your part that could make your cat happy? Let’s have a look!

What Does Your Cat Need To Be Happy?

1.    Although cats are said to be distant, you need to give your attention and love to them. This is the first and foremost thing to do as a cat’s friend. You may need to find a perfect balance between letting them have their aloof time and sparing some play or love time for them. Timely head and chin scratches, letting them purr on your lap are some of the things you could try to make your queen happy.

2.    Domesticated animals highly depend on you for their food. Shelter and food are two benefits that a pet feline gets which a street cat does not. Love? Street cats get that a lot! You may be a great guardian and your kitty must be getting her meals regularly. However what interests them more is treats! Make sure you offer her treats regularly, not more than necessary, but enough to show your appreciation and make her happy.

3.    We all have work and other commitments which do not allow us to spend the amount of time with our kitties that we wish to. Meanwhile our cats may need something to play with. Yes, toys! Different toys may make your queen busy and happy at the same time. Catnip filled toys, stuffed mouse are some of their favorite toys. Make sure you rotate them frequently as cats tend to get bored with things easily.

4.    This idea may not make your kitty happy, but is extremely important for their healthy living and future happiness. Veterinary checkups may stress your feline at that moment, but temporary stress is always better than a permanent stress of sickness. Isn’t it? Get your feline checked regularly by a trusted vet and make sure she is fine.

5.    There are a few more things which may make your kitty happy like clean litter boxes, scratching post (they love to scratch), and another feline friend (only if your queen is friendly enough). Make sure you give individual litter boxes, beddings, and food bowls if you are parenting more than one feline.

These are the basic mantras that may assist you in keeping your furry felines happy and content. With the right amount of food, care and love, all cats seem to be satisfied with their guardians. If you are missing out on any of the above tips, start trying it and spread happiness!
